8/5/12 MD – AT Weverton to Gathland State Park (Crampton’s Gap)

Little Caesar dropped Pauli and I off at the Weverton parking lot and headed home for air conditioning…it was 9 AM and already almost 90 degrees!  This section is also pretty easy, after you climb up to Weverton Heights!  It wasn’t too bad, I had water and am in okay shape for climbing.  I ran into more than a few unprepared hikers…not enough water, wearing cotton, etc.  I feel for them, but at the same time I think, really?  you thought you could hike 7 miles on a day with temps headed to 100 degrees with a little 12 ounce bottle of water? really????

Anyway, unprepared hikers aside…Everytime I hike by myself, the hike seems to take on its own theme.  This time it was the fungi! Wow!
