~2.5 miles, staying at Google’s cabin

A beautiful sunrise at Blue Mountain…no fog!  Hiked down to Unicoi in just over an hour.  Google’s father-in-law came to pick us up.  He is such a well put together southern man I don’t know what he thought of us sticky girls getting into his nice car!!!

The girl we met last night, S,  seems like a lost soul and pretty unprepared…but is hiking on to Tray Mountain shelter today.  Another girl, M,  came in last night, also young, but totally confident.  This girl has just completed her PhD and will be headed to Colorado to start her job at the Center for Disease Control.  She seems very comfortable hiking by herself!  She is headed to Unicoi to catch a shuttle to Hiawassee to pick up her dropbox, then is coming back to the trail and also heading to Tray Mountain.  I hope these two girls hike together for awhile…S. needs her!

After getting to Google’s and dumping our stuff and taking showers we went to Brasstown Bald, the highest point in Georgia!  Walked a mile up a steep paved incline to amazing views!!!  Saw the ridge we have been walking for the last 50 miles! 🙂 🙂
