Lance Creek, 8.2 miles, tenting
****
Beautiful scenery & trail magic today! Got up early and hiked about 1.5 miles to Gooch Gap where Kellye met us with bananas and strawberries!!! ❤ Yummy! On the way Debbie and I saw an owl in the foggy forest…magical! Walked another couple of miles to Woody Gap and Dennice met us there. We came off the trail to a full picnic complete with table cloth, fruit, soda and pizza! So awesome! It tasted soooo good!
Then we climbed Cedar Mountain, found a great break spot on a ledge with amazing views! Just a word of advice here…if there is poison ivy all over the woods and you gotta pee…just squat on the trail. At the break spot, I went off the trail trying to find a spot without that dreaded vine and found a nice rock. I stepped on the rock, slipped and cracked my ass. It hurts pretty bad. I am wearing my brave face…my hiking partners don’t even know I fell. Anyway, the weather is fantastic! The rain is gone for now!
Of course as we approached Lance Creek, I was getting a little tired and who knows…probably accommodating for my bruised butt…and , well, I faceplanted. I now have a new trail name “BoobOnARock”…
We are camped in a beautiful secluded spot near Lance Creek. Donna & Jules had a lot of trouble finding a spot to hang their hammocks and their bear bags. I spent time drying out my tent! Tomorrow we are taking an easy day, 4.2 miles. The following day we will hike only 3 miles to Neels Gap. Yay! A shower!! And they can check out my stove, the fuel sprinkler.
