Slaughter Creek Campsite, ~4.2 miles, Tenting
*****
Morning at Lance Creek
Slept late…NICE!! Only going 4.2 miles today…EXCELLENT since my body is sore from falling twice yesterday. We all had a great time last night, I haven’t laughed that hard in a long time! Jules had to hook her hammock up to a tree that just wasn’t doing the job…and she ended up very close to the ground and by this morning was on the ground. Oh god, she tried to pull the tarp down so we couldn’t see…hilarious! 😀
I slept really well but it feels like I have puffy face this morning.
A few more trail names today. Jules – Low Rider, Debbie – Google, Donna – Fart Blossom
Slaughter Creek campsite is UPHILL from the water source a considerable ways. We set up camp…OMG the biting flies…then went back down the hill for water. The day was pretty…great breezes and everything is so lush! One or two nice views.
Tomorrow we hike into Neels Gap!!! Showers, ice cream, yum, yum! Jules will be getting off the trail at Neels Gap 😦 but will rejoin us at the end of Georgia. We are one mile from the summit of Blood Mountain. Hoping for great views from the top!
Donna and Jules have had some trouble finding places to hang their hammocks. Seriously seems like a pain in the butt…I’ll stick to my tent. If they could invent a hammock that converts to a tent when needed that might be cool.
Tomorrow night 60% chance of rain…glad I won’t be camping! Hope Mountain Crossing can fix my stove…if not, I am going to get a pocket rocket…and return the Muka stove to REI.
I like it out here, even the rainy days. During the next section, I think I may stay in shelters more. Easier to break camp in the morning.
