Muskrat shelter, staying in shelter
*****
Hey ho I am in NC now!!! How exciting to cross the state line and see the famous tree! So cool! I hiked the GA AT. I ROCK!! and the best thing is I FEEL GREAT! I could keep going if I got a shower tomorrow 🙂 I have really really enjoyed this trip!
Last night Lumberjack, Tootsie roll and the dog, Reverend came crashing into Plumorchard after dark. Then they made a lot of noise, made a fire, and drank beer and talked. ARGH…kept me up!
Anyway, the hills after the famous tree in NC are CRAZY. Slow going but I did it! This shelter in NC is dark and dank and trashy. The creek is nice and I saw a lot of cool salamanders? skinks?
Hanging out my stuff to dry…again.
There is this old plane wreckage here at the shelter. Supposedly from a drug running plane that went down in the mountains. I took a picture for Logan. And wouldn’t you know it…there is a pilot at the shelter tonight! Everyone is now showing up. Lucky we got here early and claimed a spot because…yep, you guessed it…rain!
I am already thinking about hikes I want to do when I get home. I might do that 13 miler from Keys Gap to Snickers Gap in VA. Of course I will take Pauli!!
I have heard a lot about dehydrating food on this trip. Seems like quite a production…but may be worth it. Google dehydrated pumpkin pie!
The trail north of here is swamped with water. Only 4 miles to Deep Gap, NC tomorrow. Looking forward to a shower, then getting back to Einstein, Moose, Elvis, Jett, Pauli and most importantly Little Caesar!
