AT – GA Day 12 Deep Gap to Plumorchard Shelter 6/11/13

Plumorchard Shelter, ~8 miles, staying in shelter

******

Hard day hiking…lots of ups and downs and in wet socks and boots.  Gold Bond can only do so much…My feet hurt, my knees hurt!! Soooo tired!  Hoping to be able to filter water without too much pain.  Google and I pretty much hiked together today, since Dick’s Creek anyway.  I heard Reverend and his owner, along with Lumberjack, are headed this way.  Hope he has those tootsie rolls!

Only 4 miles to NC!

This shelter is amazing, 3 levels.  Oh-new skill- I can actually pee without taking off my pack.  Haha! so convenient!

The walk to filter water wasn’t so bad.  My knees are slowly recovering.  My left foot has a sore spot on the inner heel and is very tender at the moment.

There are two young guys here at the shelter tonight.  They are very funny and remind me of Logan (my son).  They are beginners at backpacking…brought canned soup, no stove and machetes…thought they would need to bushwack!  Right now they are out looking for firewood.  Funniest thing they said…”I didn’t know women your age did this type of thing!”  Oh. we had a good laugh!
